Henry Ma


Associate Professor Ma is the Head of Stroke Unit at Monash Health. He is the principle coordinator of EXTEND study and a senior research fellow at the Florey Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institute in Australia. He is the co-chair of Australia stroke trial network (ASTN). His research interest is advanced neuro-imaging and extending the thrombolysis time window.

Where do you see the industry in the next 20 years?: Firstly stroke will move towards acute intervention (ECR) with earlier identification in ambulance along with neuro-protection (possibly stemcells) augmenting the clinical outcome. Secondly service re-organisation with direct transfer stroke patients to mother ship model to reduce adverse outcome.
